August/September Update

…”But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:62

This is a strong and loving word from our Lord.  The 5 verses before this statement come from those who SAY they will follow Jesus, but they are not ready to let go.  This is easier said then done, but it is so important to be obedient to the voice of our Lord.

These past months have been life changing for our family.  We said our goodbyes to our family back in the states, packed up, and journeyed across the world to a new work in Asia.  Arriving in a foreign land can be a difficult task, but we sense the hand of God upon us, and we thank Him for all He is doing in our lives.  We are slowing settling in and adapting to this new chapter in our lives, thank you for your prayers!

-Sharing the Good News (we’ve been able to share the Good News with some natives) Pray for open hearts.
-Language studies- Pray for our language studies, the language here is very difficult, but we know that God can supernaturally give us the ability to learn, write, and speak it.
-Recording and translations.  We are prayerfully planning the best way to record and translate the scriptures for an unreached people group in our region.
-Adaption:  Please pray for our adaption.  We, along with our children have been homesick.  Please pray for God’s comfort.
-Our senior missionaries:  We are supporting and being mentored by a beautiful family here.  Our primary reason of being here is to support this family.
-House meetings.  We are meeting underground with natives weekdays and sundays for worship.
-Vision:  Pray for continued vision.

Pastor Jeff and our home church of ccdowney praying and sending us.

June/July Update

“Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time forth and forevermore!  From the rising of the sun to its going down The LORD’S name is to be praised.  The LORD is high above all nations, His glory about the heavens. Psalm 113:1-4

We have been overwhelmed with God’s Love towards wretched people like us.  He has been so good to us, and it is an honor to give Him praise and thanksgiving!

These past 2 months have been very busy.  We’ve had the opportunity to share about the work in Asia in different ministries.  And also, we have been able to teach and share God’s Word.  In preparing Bible studies, the Lord ALWAYS ministers to our own hearts first, then we are able to give out what He first gave to us.

We purchased our plane tickets and will depart from America to Asia on August 25th.  Please pray for all the logistics that go into moving to a different country.  Praise God, we have been able to gain more prayer partners and finances these past 2 months!

Grace & Peace
The Chavira’s-Daniel, Liz, Abbey, & Liam

Prayer Requests:

  • Pray for us to draw closer to the    Lord every day, and truly worship Him with our lives.  Also, increased faith.

  • Please pray for our marriage to remain strong and continue to get stronger.

  • Pray for our health: When we purchased our tickets, Liz broke out in hives & Daniel got bells   palsy.  Praise God! The Bells Palsy is getting better, and the hives are gone.

  • Pray for our host family D & L:  For the ongoing work, and that we would be a support to them.

  • Pray for the “man of peace” to be found among a minority group we want to minister to.

  • Please pray for our children: To adapt to a new culture

  • Please pray for our family and friends who will remain at home.

  • Please pray for continued sensitivity to The Holy Spirit, and that Jesus would be exalted in our lives.

April/May Update

As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth. I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.” John 17:18-21

pic-1The past month of April has been very busy for our family. The Lord allowed us to share our hearts and vision for Asia with over 10 ministries. Some ministries had 10 people, others had hundreds, but in every engagement there were hearts to receive the vision and call the Lord has given us. Although we are raising monthly finances, this isn’t our main focus. Our focus is to share our hearts with the Body of Christ, expose the work in Asia, encourage, challenge, and to mobilize and work together as one.

…And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.” He said, “Bring them here to Me.” Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes.” Matthew 14:16-19

God is good all the time. Even when we think we have nothing, we have everything in Him. He is our provision, and He has graciously been providing the finances we need to live in Asia. We are still short of our monthly goal, but we have faith that He will continue to provide through His people in His time. This passage in Matthew speaks volumes to our family (v.19). He has blessed us, broken us, and now giving us over to be used for His purpose and glory.
